Santouri Dumper
This is my personal view on the santouri's damper.
The study and the construction follewed two main characteristics.
Firstly, as for the Greek santouri the damper is useful only in some cases such as recordings, I did not want any permanent intervention on the instrument.
Secondly I wanted the damper to function in the right direction, that is the same way as in the piano and concert cimbalom, and not as the majority of dampers for portable instruments, which function backwards.
The particular damper charged by two springs, presses the strings when the pedal is not pressed and releases them when the padal is pressed.
The two main avantages of this characteristic is that the player can study pedal techniques equivalent to the ones of the piano and the concert cimbalomand, secondly the player can choose the sounds they prefer each time, either "strangled" or "relaxed" just by adjusting the spring's pressure.
Each damper is made for a particular instrument as there are variations in the dimmensions.
